THE FIRM’S FAMILY LAW MISSION STATEMENT

To treat you, the client, with respect and courtesy.

To handle your legal matter competently and diligently, in accordance with the highest standards of the profession.

To exercise independent professional judgment on your behalf.

To assist you in confronting and minimizing the adverse effects of the relationship, financial and emotional aspects of divorce, parentage and related modification actions.
    
    To confront something means to look squarely at it and measure it, and to take a course of action that will make a substantive positive difference.

To assist you to be at cause in your relationships with your spouse, former spouse, the other parent of your children, your children and the legal system.

To educate you in understanding the process of divorce or other legal actions, and to explain the available approaches to these challenges.

To assist you in finding the most beneficial resolution to the challenges you confront.

We will charge you a reasonable fee and explain in advance how that fee will be computed and billed.

We will provide you with value in proportion to cost.


THE FAMILY LAW CLIENT’S MISSION STATEMENT

To know what your principles are and tell your attorney about them.

    Principles are your personal rules that you will not compromise on. Principles will influence how you perceive and address certain issues.

    Principles should be grounded in a sound moral or ethical code that serves you and a broader society.

To be willing to find ground for settlement on practical matters.

To be in present time, that is to be in the here and now, leaving your emotional investment in the history of the matter or other matters out.

    If you need help with being in present time, as I sometimes do, I know of resources that have supported me, that I think are cost effective, and that may support you.

To pay attention and understand what is happening.  

    You need to be in present time to be able to pay attention and rationally analyze what is happening with accuracy, efficiency and consistency.

    If you do not understand, something you are concerned about, you must ask about it; do not bypass a word or expression you do not understand.

To read and understand the bill and ask questions about the bill if you don’t understand a billing entry.

To pay the bill promptly in accordance with the fee agreement.
